This week, children in reception learnt about why Christian people celebrate Shrove Tuesday at the start of Lent. They also discussed how lots of non-Christians also enjoy taking part in this tradition too.
They looked at the instructions on how to make pancakes and followed these as part of their focus on non-fiction texts.
The children also enjoyed listening to the story of The Runaway Pancake and were able to make links back to their traditional stories topic due to the fact the story is similar to The Gingerbread Man story which they had previously learnt about.
Reception also had fun designing some pancake faces whilst practicing their cutting skills.
Finally, they learnt about pancake races and had lots of fun having pancake races!
