  • Friday 10 June 2022 Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Wow! What a wonderful day! The children really enjoyed Whitefield’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on Friday with different activities going on across the school including learning about the monarchy and the Queen’s 70-year reign and the creation of some amazing art pieces. Some children came dressed for the occasion and, in Murphy Class, even a corgi was in attendance! We had a delicious picnic lunch and an afternoon of games on the field.
  • Sunday 5 June 2022 Queen's Platinum Jubilee Pageant Children from our school, Chantry Primary Academyand Southfield Primary Academy took part in the prestigious Queen's Jubilee Pageant in London! An early start for sure, but a day that will live long in the memories of everyone attending! We couldn't be any prouder of the children! They did an absolutely magnificent job: waving, dancing, high-fiving, smiling (more dancing) and generally, showing every one of our school values. They were such great role models and were praised constantly for their hard work, positivity and great behaviour.
  • Friday 1 April 2022 Reception - Growing Topic This half term Inkpen class have really enjoyed planting cress, sunflower and bean seeds and observing their growth over the half term. We ‘planted’ the beans in sandwich bags so that we could see the roots and shoots as they grew and we kept a bean diary. The seedlings have now been sent home for the children to nurture and observe their continued growth at home!

  • Tuesday 1 February 2022 Reception - Chinese New Year 'Kung Hei Fat Choi' to everyone in our community celebrating the Chinese/Lunar new year today. We have had fun learning about this celebration today in our reception classes. We have also been learning about non-fiction texts so we explored a non-fiction book about this celebration to find out lots of facts about how it is celebrated. We enjoyed lots of art and craft and sensory play opportunities linked to the Chinese New Year but best of all was having a go at dragon dancing, playing our instruments and having a taste of fortune cookies and prawn crackers!
  • Tuesday 18 January 2022 Nursery - WOW Factor - Under the Sea Messy Day 'Under the Sea' was the theme for Nursery's Messy Day! All dressed to get super messy they plunged into the paint and created waves with rollers, waded their hands through foam, hid things under piles of shredded paper and decorated plastic sheeting with their handprints and glittery stuff. Some dinosaurs turned up but got stuck in gloop and bubbles, while others made shiny fish art! Nursery had lots of excited talk about their underworld adventures, and everyone went home suitably messy and tired.

The children had a fabulous time... how super are they!

The children had a wonderful time meeting and learning about a tortoise, some rabbits, guinea pigs, an African Pygmy hedgehog, a sugar glider, a dog and a barn owl! They were allowed to touch all of the animals except the sugar glider.
