Autumn 2 - Traditional Tales

In this unit, we explore traditional stories and look at different versions. The children enjoy joining in with reading the stories and acting them out with puppets.
Spring 1 - Under the Sea

In this unit, we explore what you can find under the sea through lovely storybooks and research. The children also use their imaginations and experience a pirate-themed role play area and dress up as pirates and mermaids.
Spring 2 - Transport

In this unit, we look at different modes of transport and how we travel to different places around the world. We experience going on a coach and train journey. We learn more about the topic through stories, songs, small world and imaginative play.
Summer 1 - Minibeasts

In this unit we explore lots of different minibeasts. The children enjoy watching our live caterpillars turn into butterflies and they create their own mini-beasts using a variety of media. They learn about life cycles.
Summer 2 - Animals

The children learn about a variety of different animals and their young. We also have a vet’s role play area where they learn how to care for animals.
The children cover a broad range of topics through a variety of fiction books with exciting activities to open and close each topic. They are also exposed to a variety of non-fiction texts and find out answers to their questions using the Internet too. They also learn a variety of songs and nursery rhymes every half term too.
